“Maps”, 12 pieces.
7cm x 3cm
Copper sheeting, salt, patination fluid, white vinegar

“Maps” are small alien landscapes, delicately destroyed with oxidative processes. Initially presented as small pieces that require the audience to get close to see them properly, these images will be adapted for projection in future projects. Each time a piece is handled, the continuous oxidation causes fragments to break off irreparably meaning that each further investigation by the audience is of a piece that has been changed by those who came before.

Photographs of “Maps” were taken with Canon Macro lens, evoking images of coral, funghi, rock formations, pockmarked alien landscapes, and crystalline vistas. As the pieces will change as they are handled, each of these images is a unique moment in time, captured and unlikely to be seen again. The blurred suggests movement or mystery –a fog of war, or the hazy unknown
