Lilies is an exploration of cathartic action in both written and physical form. The words are intended to be raw and honest, the images ethereal and evocative of the shroud of grief that the writer feels.
Moments of frustration are captured in wax that could easily be lit, melted, and forgotten but also re-created. While the moment of frustration can be erased, the wax will remain. These images were created with the idea that they would serve as the ghosts of that frustration regardless of what happened to the candles. A sense of grief that the artist has chosen to immortalise so that the actions that caused the emotional response is not forgotten once the cathartic motion is completed.
With further work and development, poetry and images that Charlie creates in response to emotional triggers will be compiled and presented as a series of zines and booklets.
